Overview

About MSD Crane Hire

MSD Crane Hire provides cranes with operators and full contract lifts for loads from 20kg up to 1,000 tonnes.

We work out of Darlington as part of Synergy Lifting, so a crane, an appointed person and a lift plan all come from one team. Tell us about the job and we will match the machine to it.

Where do we work?

Across the North East as a matter of routine, and on sites anywhere in the UK.

Which cranes?

All-terrain mobile cranes, city cranes, light truck cranes and our electric pick and carry cranes, chosen for the load and the access.

No lift plan of your own?

Book a contract lift. We survey, plan and supervise it, with our insurance in place.

Need a figure first?

Send photos, the weight and the reach. A desktop quote usually comes back the same day.

    How it works

How a booking with MSD works

    01

    Tell us the job

Weight and size of the load, the site address, where it lands and photos of the way in.

    02

    Get a price

We quote from what you send, and visit first where the ground or the access needs a look.

    03

    The plan

On a contract lift our appointed person writes the lift plan and RAMS and sends them before the day.

    04

    Lift day

The crane arrives in its agreed slot, sets up where planned and lifts to BS 7121, with equipment examined under LOLER.

    Coverage

    Where MSD Crane Hire works

Our work is centred on the North East, from the Tees to the Tyne, and we take cranes to sites anywhere in the UK.

    Where we lift

    The Tees valley

    Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Hartlepool

    County Durham and Wearside

Durham, Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland and Sunderland

    Tyneside and Northumberland

    Newcastle, Gateshead, Cramlington and Blyth

    North Yorkshire

    Northallerton, Richmond, Thirsk and York

    What we plan for

    Heavy plant

Vessels, tanks, transformers and machine bases need the weight at radius worked out first, so the crane is sized on the full rigged load.

    Working sites

Factories, process plant and offices often keep running through a lift, so the exclusion zone and the timing are agreed with the site.

    Ground and outriggers

Former industrial land and soft ground are common across the region. The bearing is checked and mats go down where needed.

    Long-distance jobs

For work further afield we plan the route, the travel and any escort before we quote.

    Why book with us

What comes with an MSD booking

    Appointed persons on staff

Our own appointed persons write every contract lift plan and visit the site first when it needs one.

    Quick quotes

Send the weight, the reach and access photos and a desktop quote is generally back the same day.

    Planned to the site

Permits, inductions and shutdown windows are worked into the lift plan from the start.

    Road closures

Where the crane needs part of the road or pavement, we apply to the council for that area and bring the traffic management.

    Accredited

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, SSIP approved, a Constructionline Gold Member and in the CPA, with CPCS or NPORS carded operators.

    One order

Transport, riggers, labour and machine movers can go on the same order as the crane.
